Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) involves the resolution of a matter by a method other than traditional litigation. There are three main types of ADR: negotiation, mediation (including conciliation), and arbitration. ADR is often preferred over traditional litigation because it involves a less formal atmosphere than the court room and is less expensive and time consuming than litigation.
