J. Franklyn Bourne Scholarship Fund’s
Seventh Annual Golf Classic
Rounding
out the month was our Scholarship Fund Golf Classic,
which was held at Tantallon Country Club this past Tuesday, May 28,

I am proud to announce that the monies raised from this outing will
enable us to continue our tradition of awarding scholarships to area
law school students at our banquet in November. Thanks to all the volunteers
and golf participants. Congratulations to our own Judge El-Amin
and his team for their 2nd place finish, followed closely by Past President
William Snoddy's team in 3rd place.

Maryland on Tuesday, May 31, 2005.

Robert
Kim and Chris Watson made a triumphant return to the J. Franklyn Bourne
Scholarship Fund, Inc./Monumental City Bar Foundation, Inc. Scholarship
Golf Classic. The team of Kim, Watson, the Honorable Herman Dawson and
Ed Savage shot a 9 under par 63 to take top honors.
About 100
golfers participated in the tournament, which raised money to support
the two organizations’ scholarship award activities. The joint
Golf Committee of JFB members Garland Stillwell, Traci Scudder, Charles
Byrd and Monumental City Bar’s Ron Richardson put on an event
that was “classic.” Golfers were divided into three flights

all participants an opportunity to win. The Kim, Watson, Dawson and
Savage group won the top “eagle” flight.
This was
the second time in three years that a team featuring Kim and Watson
won the tournament. In 2003, Kim, a principal at the firm of McNamee
Hosea Jernigan Kim Greenan and Walker and Watson, husband of Bourne
member Abigail Bruce Watson, were joined by the Honorable Eric Johnson
in winning the tournament held at Cattail Creek Country Club in Glenwood,
Maryland.
Other
winners at this year’s tournament were the team of Rod Womack,
John Shay, Bob Manzi and Mike Kennedy, which flew away with the first
place Birdie Flight trophy with a 3 under par 69 and the team of John
Beamer, Noble Davis, Paul Leonard and William Snoddy, which took home
the first place Par Flight trophy with an even par 72.
