The J. Franklyn Bourne Bar
Association, in conjunction with seven (7 local specialty bar
associations -- the Bar Association of Montgomery County, the Maryland
Hispanic Bar Association, the Asian Pacific American Bar Association
of Maryland, the Maryland Gay/Lesbian Bar Association, the Daniel O’Connor
Irish Law Society, the Montgomery County Chapter of the Women’s
Bar Association, and the Simon E. Sobeloff Jewish Law Society -- sponsored
a "Party Around the World" on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at
the Women’s Club of Chevy Chase. The evening reception was the
first time ever that a bar association event of this cooperative nature
has taken place.

The Honorable Hassan El-Amin, President , Sharon Burrell, Immediate
Past President , Marylin Pierre, Montgomery County Committee
liaison and representative in the Party Around the World Committee,
Donna Clemons-Sachs, Wayne Cooper, and Pauline Johnson
were among those who attended the Party Around the World.
The planning of this party alone has
brought together this group of bar presidents and has facilitated cooperative
work by the various bar associations on more serious tasks, such as
recommending appointees to Governor (Martin) O’Malley’s
Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission and to other committees
to better reflect our diverse population.
Background.
The J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, the Bar Association

Daniel O’Donnell Law Society, the Montgomery County Chapter of
the Women’s Bar Association, and the Simon E. Sobeloff Law Society
are sponsoring a PARTY AROUND THE WORLD!
The Party Around The World concept was developed
to celebrate the contributions that make each bar association unique
in its own way. There will be no speeches or awards but we will have
a SPECIAL DOOR PRIZE consisting of Wine Tasting and Tour of Sugarloaf
Vineyard (For 10 People), in Comus, Maryland. The event costs $30.00
per person.
The Party Around The World will be held at the Women’s
Club of Chevy Chase, 7931 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, Maryland
on Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please call the
